Tel Aviv, June 16 (V7N) — The US embassy area in Tel Aviv was struck by an Iranian missile, causing minor damage to a nearby building, US Ambassador Mike Huckabee confirmed in a social media post on Monday.
Ambassador Huckabee assured that no American personnel were injured in the attack. However, as a precautionary measure, the US embassy and consulates in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will remain closed today.
The missile strike follows Israel’s intense air, drone, and missile assault on Iranian targets last Friday, which heavily damaged key facilities, including a nuclear installation and an oil refinery. According to international reports, the Israeli offensive has resulted in at least 128 deaths and around 900 injuries in Iran.
In retaliation, Iran has launched sustained missile and drone attacks on multiple Israeli sites over the past two days as part of its response to Operation Rising Lion. So far, Iranian strikes on Tel Aviv have reportedly killed 14 people and injured over 200, many critically. Authorities are bracing for a potential rise in casualties amid the ongoing hostilities.
