Galle, June 21 (V7N) – Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim fell agonizingly short of a half-century on the final day of the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. He was dismissed for 49 runs after being run out by a direct hit while attempting a quick single in the 75th over.

At the other end, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 89 off 168 deliveries, anchoring the innings with resilience.

Resuming the fifth day on 177 for three, Bangladesh added 60 runs in 19 overs during a rain-interrupted morning session, taking their total to 237 for four.

Mushfiqur and Shanto had been playing cautiously before Mushfiqur’s dismissal disrupted Bangladesh’s momentum. Unfortunately for Bangladesh, rain returned shortly after his dismissal, forcing the grounds staff to cover the entire field once again.

As of the latest update, play remains suspended due to rain.
