Dhaka, Aug 06 (V7N) – The National Constitution Party (NCP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the recently announced July Declaration, stating that it fails to address the demand for a new constitution and the formation of a Constituent Assembly.
NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain made these remarks during a press conference held at the party's temporary office in Bangla Motor, Dhaka, on Wednesday (August 6) morning.
“NCP has consistently called for a new constitution through a Constituent Assembly. Unfortunately, this core demand has been ignored in the July Declaration,” said Akhtar Hossain. He emphasized that a new constitutional framework is essential to establishing true democracy and ensuring justice in the country.
While the party does not oppose the proposed February 2026 national elections, Akhtar Hossain underscored that the government must take responsibility for ensuring justice for the killings that occurred during recent unrest and complete essential reforms before any election is held.
He further stressed the need to guarantee a level playing field for all political parties to ensure a fair and credible electoral process.
