Dhaka, Aug 03 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami has announced plans to hold a nationwide mass procession on Tuesday, August 5, to commemorate the first anniversary of the historic July Uprising. The program is part of the party’s previously declared month-long observance of the student-led movement that erupted last year.
In a statement issued on Saturday (August 2), Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar urged all metropolitan and district-level party units to organize peaceful and orderly processions in their respective areas. He also called on citizens across the country to join the program to honor the sacrifices made during the July Uprising.
“To make this mass procession successful, we are calling for extensive preparation and peaceful organization across all units,” said Parwar. He further appealed to the administration to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere during the events.
The August 5 program marks a key moment in Jamaat’s month-long campaign to reflect on the impact of the 2024 July Uprising, which reshaped the political landscape of the country.
