Moulvibazar, July 26 (V7N) – Nahid Islam, Convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), has stated that elections without justice and reforms will not be accepted by the people. He made the remarks while addressing a roadside meeting in the Beripara area of Moulvibazar city on Saturday.
“The NCP does not want elections without ensuring justice and institutional reform. If such elections are held, the people will reject them,” said Nahid Islam.
Speaking on constitutional matters, he said, “The 1972 Constitution is essentially the Mujibist Constitution. Reforms are needed to ensure justice, national development, and to officially recognize both the Liberation War and the 1924 coup. While some political forces are trying to protect the unamended 1972 Constitution, we must actively resist such efforts.”
Highlighting the NCP’s political agenda, Nahid Islam added that the party is committed to improving the living standards of tea workers and ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities across the country.
He also criticized what he described as a politically motivated attempt to blame coup supporters for the recent police killing in Baniachong, Habiganj, saying the narrative was being twisted to serve certain political interests.
