Dhaka, July 15 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has launched a scathing attack on Jamaat-e-Islami, accusing the party of doing little besides collecting donations, which they call hadiya, and targeting the BNP for elimination.

Speaking at a protest rally organized in Naya Paltan on Monday afternoon, Abbas claimed, “They [Jamaat] have no other work except talking big and taking hadiya from major groups across the country. They’ve used everyone at different times, but now BNP is their only headache. If they can eliminate BNP, they believe they’ll rule the country.”

Concerns for Tarique Rahman’s Safety

Mirza Abbas also expressed concern over what he described as threats to the life of acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

“It seems like they cannot tolerate Tarique Rahman. His life is in danger. But under his capable leadership, the country can move forward. Let it be clear — Bangladesh is not safe in anyone’s hands except the BNP,” he declared.

Warning to the Public and BNP Activists

Calling for political awareness, Abbas urged citizens to critically evaluate the motives behind statements made by Jamaat, Charmonai, and the National Citizen Party (NCP).

“Do not be confused by what anyone from Jamaat, Charmonai or NCP says. Analyze incidents thoroughly before drawing conclusions,” he said. “If BNP is wrongfully put in the dock, the public must verify the truth behind such accusations.”

He further warned of alleged infiltration attempts into BNP ranks by elements backed by the ruling Awami League.

“Awami League terrorists are trying to enter BNP using our own platform. I call on our leaders and activists to remain alert and identify such infiltration attempts,” Abbas concluded.

The rally ended with chants in support of Tarique Rahman and a call to intensify grassroots-level campaigns ahead of the anticipated national elections.
