Kurigram, July 02 (V7N) — National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has declared that the NCP will not accept any excuses regarding the long-stalled Teesta Master Plan, insisting that it must be implemented in a realistic and effective manner.
He made the remarks on Wednesday during a road meeting in Kurigram on the second day of the 'Desh Garte July Padyatra' program.
“The days of Indian brokerage and slavery are over. This is the Bangladesh of the future — a Bangladesh of independence, dignity, and the rights of its people,” Nahid said.
Referring to the recent mass uprising, he added, “We joined the movement out of patriotism and responsibility, not out of any desire for power. But seeing the need of the times, we formed the NCP. Without an alternative and young leadership, this Bangladesh will not move forward, and the mass uprising will not succeed.”
Nahid further promised that the NCP manifesto for rebuilding Bangladesh will be announced at the Central Shaheed Minar on August 3.
At another road meeting, Nahid reiterated, “No more discrimination will be tolerated in the new Bangladesh. The future of this country lies in equality and justice for all.”
Meanwhile, Hasnat Abdullah, NCP’s chief organizer for the southern region, warned, “If tyranny and fascism are repeated, August 5 will also be repeated,” hinting at a possible resurgence of mass protests if oppression continues.
Since morning, NCP leaders, activists, and supporters have been marching in a convoy across Kurigram Upazila, receiving warm welcomes from local residents along the way.
