Dhaka, Dec 18 (V7N) – Inqilab Manch organized a mourning procession in the capital’s Shahbagh area on Thursday night following the death of its spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot earlier this month and later died while undergoing treatment in Singapore.

The procession began after 10:30 pm, with leaders, activists and supporters gathering to pay tribute to Hadi. During the procession, participants chanted various slogans and demanded justice for what they described as a targeted killing.

Death Confirmed by Doctors

Earlier in the day, Dr. Abdul Ahad, a member of the neurosurgery team at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed Hadi’s death. He said the information was received from the neurosurgical team of Singapore General Hospital, adding that Sharif Osman Hadi died at around 9:30 am (Bangladesh time).

The news was also shared on Hadi’s verified Facebook page and the official page of Inqilab Manch, which described him as a revolutionary figure and expressed deep grief over his death.

Background of the Shooting

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot on December 12 while attending a public meeting in the Bijoynagar area of Dhaka. According to witnesses, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at close range and fled the scene.

The bullet hit his head, leaving him critically injured. He was initially taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was later transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment and subsequently airlifted to Singapore by air ambulance.

Medical sources earlier said the bullet entered the right side of his head and exited through the left, though fragments remained lodged in his brain, leading to serious complications.

Hadi’s killing has triggered widespread reactions and renewed concerns over political violence and security, particularly in the run-up to the 13th National Parliament Election.
