Mymensingh, Dec 19 (V7N)- One person was killed in a mob lynching in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday night, following allegations of insulting religious sentiments. An enraged mob later attempted to set the victim’s body on fire, triggering panic and traffic disruption in the area.

The incident occurred at around Thursday (December 19) night at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory in the Dubalipara area of Bhaluka. The deceased was identified as Dipu Chandra Das, a worker of the factory.

According to police sources, Dipu Chandra Das was accused of making remarks that allegedly hurt religious sentiments. As news of the allegation spread, tensions escalated rapidly, leading to a mob attack. He was critically injured during the assault and later died from his injuries.

After the killing, the mob carried the body to the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway, where they attempted to set it on fire and blocked traffic on both sides of the road, causing severe disruption.

Law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control. Additional police forces were deployed to prevent further violence and restore normal traffic movement.

Police said the situation is currently under control, and legal action is being taken in connection with the incident. An investigation has been launched to identify those involved in the lynching.
