Jhalakathi, Dec 19 (V7N)- The death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Manch, has cast a deep pall of grief over his village home in Nalchiti upazila of Jhalakathi.

A visit to the Khasmahal area of Nalchiti municipality on Friday morning found the entire locality immersed in mourning. Family members, relatives, and neighbors were seen struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of Hadi, known in the area for his ever-smiling demeanor and active presence in social movements.

Locals said the shock of his death has left the village stunned, with many unable to believe that Hadi is no longer alive. An atmosphere of silence and sorrow prevails across the area.

Earlier, after news of his death spread late Thursday night, angry residents took to the streets demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. Protesters blocked the Dhaka–Jhalakathi highway at the College intersection, bringing vehicular movement to a halt for nearly five hours.

The blockade caused severe traffic congestion on both sides of the highway, creating significant hardship for commuters. The situation returned to normal around 3:00 am, after the protesters withdrew from the road.

Law enforcement agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. Locals, however, have demanded a swift and transparent investigation and exemplary punishment for those involved.
