Tangail, July 4 (V7N) — Mohammad Motaleb Hossain, a veteran freedom fighter and senior member (Rukon) of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Tangail City Unit, passed away early Friday morning at the age of 80. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un.

He had been suffering from complications following a brain stroke he suffered four years ago, which left him unable to move independently. He breathed his last around 4:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4, after battling multiple health issues.

In his professional life, Motaleb Hossain served as a livestock officer. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and many admirers.

Following Jumu'ah prayers on the same day, his funeral was held in front of the Deola Graveyard Mosque, where he was laid to rest with full state honors, including a guard of honor for his role in Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War. Prior to the funeral prayer, Tangail District Jamaat Ameer Ahsan Habib Masud addressed those in attendance.

In a joint condolence message, Tangail District Jamaat Ameer Ahsan Habib Masud and City Ameer Professor Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury expressed deep sorrow at his passing. They noted that Jamaat-e-Islami has lost a valuable asset in Motaleb Hossain’s death — a man who risked his life for the country's independence and contributed significantly to its liberation.

They prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and asked Almighty Allah to grant patience and strength to the bereaved family.
