Dhaka, Aug 13 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in four divisions over the next 24 hours due to an active southwest monsoon.

In a heavy rainfall warning issued Wednesday morning and signed by Shahnaz Sultana on behalf of the Meteorological Director, the BMD said that some areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may experience heavy rainfall (44–88 mm in 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall (over 88 mm in 24 hours) between 9 am today and 9 am Thursday.

Since Wednesday morning, rain has been reported in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, under overcast skies. The BMD attributed the wet conditions to increased monsoon activity over Bangladesh.
