Dhaka, June 17 (V7N) — Monsoon winds are active with thunderclouds developing over the North Bay of Bengal, causing significant air pressure differences. As a result, gusty or squally winds accompanied by heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely to affect the North Bay, coastal areas of Bangladesh, and seaports.

Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman issued a weather warning on Tuesday, advising the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to display local warning signal number 3 to alert maritime activities.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been instructed to approach the coast with caution until further notice.

Additionally, river ports in Jessore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar are likely to experience temporary rain or thunderstorms with gusty or stormy winds reaching 45-60 km/h from the south and southeast. These river ports have been asked to hoist warning signal number 1.

Residents and travelers in the affected regions are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the monsoon activity intensifies.
