Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) – A total of 56 individuals have been arrested in a special daylong operation conducted by the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across six police station areas on Monday.
The arrests include suspects wanted in regular and ongoing criminal cases, narcotics dealers, muggers, thieves, gang members, and individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. The operation aimed to disrupt criminal activities and reinforce public safety in the capital.
According to sources within DMP, the drive was carried out under the directive of Deputy Commissioner Ibn Mizan, with the direct supervision of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of each respective police station. Regular patrol units and special teams were mobilized to execute the crackdown.
Among the police stations, Adabor recorded the highest number of arrests, detaining 17 suspects. Hatirjheel Police Station arrested 11, followed by Tejgaon with 8, Mohammadpur with 6, and both Tejgaon Industrial Area and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police stations apprehending 7 individuals each.
Police officials stated that such coordinated operations will continue in the coming days as part of an intensified effort to combat rising urban crime and enhance law enforcement visibility in Dhaka. The arrested individuals are currently undergoing legal procedures and further investigation.
