Dhaka, July 20, (V7N) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has denied reports circulating on social media and some media outlets regarding buses being set on fire in Gulistan and Azimpur in support of a strike called by the banned Awami League.

In a press release issued by DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department on Sunday, DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman clarified that no such incidents took place in those areas and the circulating videos are outdated and misleading.

The DMP stated, “Some old videos related to bus burning are being intentionally circulated as if they were filmed today. These claims are completely false. The situation in both Gulistan and Azimpur remains normal, and no such incident has occurred.”

The release also accused a “malicious group” of attempting to spread panic among the public through the use of outdated footage. “This group is trying to assert its presence by creating fear through propaganda,” it added.

The DMP assured that law enforcement remains on high alert to prevent any attempts to disrupt public order and urged citizens not to be misled by such fabricated content.
