Dhaka, Aug 18 (V7N) – Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has clarified his recent comments about doctors, stating that his criticism was directed at a specific group and not at the medical community as a whole.
In a Facebook post titled “Doctor’s Topic” published on Monday, Nazrul said he feared his statements had been misrepresented in the media.
“I shared my personal positive experiences as a patient and then raised some criticisms based on others’ experiences,” he wrote. “I clearly said these criticisms do not apply to all doctors. There are many dedicated doctors, but there are also complaints against some.”
He explained that his allegations—such as not listening to patients, prescribing excessive tests, or being influenced by pharmaceutical companies—were only aimed at a section of practitioners.
Nazrul expressed regret that newspaper reports had presented his remarks in a way that suggested a sweeping accusation against all doctors. “This may cause emotional pain to the many doctors who serve with sacrifice, honesty, and skill. I sincerely apologize to those respected doctors,” he said.
However, he urged the medical community to reflect on whether such allegations are valid in the case of some individuals. “Even if only a few doctors are involved, corrective action should be taken,” Nazrul added.
