Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N) – The government is moving forward with plans to purchase 40,000 body cameras for the police in preparation for the 13th National Parliament elections. The initiative was discussed at a meeting held on Sunday at the State Guest House Jamuna, chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
According to a press release from the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing, the procurement process is in its final stages. Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, stated that the cameras will be used to monitor security at thousands of high-risk polling stations across the country.
Contact has already been established with three companies based in Germany, China, and Thailand for the supply of the devices. Police officers and constables assigned to election duties will be equipped with these cameras to ensure transparency and accountability during the voting process.
In addition, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab announced plans to introduce a dedicated “election app” ahead of the polls to enhance election monitoring and voter information services.
