Dhaka, July 20, (V7N) – National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz stated that political parties have reached a consensus on the issue of a caretaker government. He also expressed optimism that a national charter will be finalized by July 31.

He made these remarks on Sunday (July 20) during the 15th day of the second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s dialogue with political parties.

Professor Riaz noted that discussions on the day focused on the caretaker government system and the issue of the Prime Minister holding multiple positions simultaneously.

Regarding the proposed bicameral legislature, he said the commission's final decision on establishing an upper house was initially scheduled for today, but some matters remain unresolved. A decision will be announced soon, he added.

It is also worth mentioning that the ongoing dialogue series is expected to conclude within this week.
