Jhalokathi, Sept 24 (V7N) – A communal harmony rally was organized in Rajapur, Jhalokathi, bringing together people of different religions, castes, and political backgrounds to promote peaceful celebration of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja.
 
The event was held at the historic Shri Shri Central Harisova Temple premises at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. It was hosted by the Peace Facilitator Group (P.F.G), Rajapur, under the MIPS project of The Hunger Project, funded by FCDO. The rally was presided over by Shri Shri Harimandir President Pran Ballabh Saha.
 
Welcoming remarks were delivered by P.F.G Coordinator and Executive Director of social welfare organization Saido NGO, Syed Hosain Ahmed Kamal.
 
Attendees included Gopal Karmakar, General Secretary of the Upazila Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council; local mosque Imams; Al-Amin Ruman, Vice President of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Rajapur Upazila Branch; Tarikul Islam, Joint Convener of District Jubo Dal; Masum Billah Parvez, Convener of Upazila Jubo Dal; former President of Rajapur branch of Gana Adhikar Parishad Al-Amin; teachers, journalists, social workers, and members of various community groups. The event was overseen by MIPS Field Coordinator Md. Rejbul Kabir.
 
Speakers emphasized that the cooperation of all communities is essential to ensure the Durga Puja, beginning September 28, is celebrated peacefully. Participants pledged at the unity forum to prevent any untoward incidents.
 
Al-Amin Ruman of Islami Andolan said, “Last year, we collectively safeguarded the Harimandir during Puja. This year as well, we stand united by your side. There is no room for religious division in this land.”
 
President Pran Ballabh Saha added, “The Hindu community here comprises only seven to eight percent of the population. But because our Muslim brothers support us, our festival regains its spirit. Durga Puja is not just a religious event; it is a celebration of our existence. This festival is complete with your participation. We extend a warm invitation to all for the Puja.”
 
The rally received widespread local support and reinforced the message of communal harmony and mutual respect ahead of the Sharadiya Durga Puja.
