Teknaf, Sept 22 (V7N) – Police recovered the body of a young Rohingya Girl, Sajeda Akter, from a canal in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar on Sunday evening.
Sajeda Akter, (20) the daughter of Azim Ullah, was a resident of Kutupalong 3 Refugee Camp in Ukhiya. Her body was found floating in a canal near Leda Lamar Para in Hnila Union around 6:00 pm.
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Abu Zayed Md. Nazmun Noor, confirmed the recovery and stated that the identification card found with the body revealed her identity. According to her family, Sajeda had left her shelter in the camp about a week ago and had not returned since.
OC Nazmun Noor added that it is unclear whether her death was the result of foul play or suicide. The exact cause will be determined after a detailed post-mortem examination.
Local authorities have taken custody of the body, and the investigation is ongoing.
