Pabna, Sept 9 (V7N) – Former Member of Parliament for Pabna-3 and BNP nomination aspirant K.M. Anwarul Islam has pledged to dedicate the rest of his life in service to the people of his constituency if given the opportunity to contest in the upcoming national election.
Addressing a large rally at Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College ground in Bhangura on Monday afternoon, Anwarul Islam said, “You have always shown me love, and in return, I want to dedicate my final years to you. If given the chance one last time, I will serve people of all classes, religions, and communities until my final breath. I have never tolerated terrorism, irregularities, or corruption, and I never will.”
He recalled that late President Ziaur Rahman had first introduced him to the people of Pabna-3 with the BNP’s sheaf of paddy symbol, while Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman repeatedly entrusted him with nominations. “In every election I sought a nomination, the party gave it to me. This time, whether there are five, seven, or eight candidates, destiny lies with Allah. I am seeking your prayers, love, and trust once again,” he said.
Highlighting his past contributions, the former lawmaker said that during his tenure as MP, he ensured important infrastructure projects for Bhangura, including the construction of a rest house (Dak Bungalow), vital road networks, and the establishment of Bhangura Police Station. “In the last 17 years, no further development has taken place here. I am asking for your support one last time to complete the work I began,” he added.
The rally, organized by Bhangura and municipal BNP, was chaired by former Upazila BNP President Advocate Mujibur Rahman. Former Upazila Senior Vice-President Abdul Matin Raju was present as the chief speaker. Other speakers included former municipal BNP President Shamsul Haque, former Organizing Secretary Babul Akter, former Joint Convener Anisur Rahman Liton, former student leader Firoz Ahmed, Bhangura Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Abdul Alim, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Sohel Rana, and several leaders from Chatmohar and Faridpur.
Following the rally, a mass procession led by Anwarul Islam paraded through major roads of Bhangura town, joined by thousands of leaders, activists, and supporters from Chatmohar, Bhangura, and Faridpur upazilas.
