Narsingdi, Feb 20 (V7N) — Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has reiterated the government’s commitment to reforming the country’s healthcare system, pledging to eliminate syndicates and corruption from the sector.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after an exchange-of-views meeting in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi on Friday afternoon.

Doorstep Healthcare Services

The minister said the government aims to ensure that medical services reach people directly.

“People will not have to go after doctors; doctors will go after people,” he stated, emphasizing a shift toward community-oriented healthcare delivery.

Equal Responsibility to All Citizens

Highlighting inclusivity, he said the government holds equal responsibility toward citizens regardless of their political choices. He expressed his determination to work beyond divisions to provide services to all.

Expansion of Medical Facilities

The Health Minister also announced plans to expand healthcare infrastructure where needed, including his intention to establish two ICU units in Narsingdi. He added that new medical colleges would be set up in areas lacking higher medical education and treatment facilities.

The remarks come as the government outlines broader reforms aimed at improving healthcare access and restoring public confidence in the sector.
