The nation is gearing up to commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, coinciding with National Children's Day-2024 on Sunday, in a fitting manner.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the dynamic leader of the Bangalee nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh, and one of the greatest Bangalees of all time, was born into a respected Muslim family in the Tungipara village of Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
He was the third of four daughters and two sons born to his parents, Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Saira Khatun.
The nation will celebrate the day through extensive programs with enthusiasm and joy.
Bangladesh missions abroad have also organized elaborate programs to celebrate the day.
In observance of the day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will issue separate messages this afternoon.
The day is a public holiday.
To mark the birth anniversary and National Children's Day, the national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private organization buildings, as well as educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad.
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has arranged comprehensive programs to mark the anniversary.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute to the Father of the Nation by laying wreaths at Bangabandhu's mausoleum in Tungipara, Gopalganj.
Various organizations, including the Awami League, will pay homage to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi-32, Dhaka.
A discussion will also be held in Tungipara tomorrow, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joining as the chief guest.
The Prime Minister will also distribute Tk 5,20,000 among 104 outstanding students in Gopalganj district, marking Bangabandhu's birth anniversary.
Additionally, various programs will be held throughout the day in Tungipara and other locations across the country.
Different political, social, and cultural organizations have also planned elaborate programs to mark the day.
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, and other private TV channels and radio stations will broadcast special programs highlighting the significance of the day in the lives of Bangalees.
