Rangamati, Sept 17 (V7N) – A female tourist named Pinka was killed and at least 12 others were seriously injured when a jeep lost control and plunged into a ravine at Hauj Para in Sajek, Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati, on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. while the tourists were descending from Sajek Valley. Local sources reported that three of the injured are in critical condition.
 
According to reports, all the injured were students of Khulna University. Army personnel, BGB, police, and locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victims, later sending them to Dighinala Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
 
Tourists have alleged that unfit vehicles and unskilled drivers frequently cause accidents in Sajek. They urged the authorities to investigate the matter and take immediate action.
 
Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kanan Sarkar confirmed the accident but said the identities of all the victims could not be confirmed immediately.
