Rajapur, Sept 12 (V7N) – A tragic road accident claimed the life of an agricultural worker, identified as Mozahar Sheikh, 55, in Rajapur upazila of Jhalokathi on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the Bara Koirbotkhali area along the Rajapur-Bhandaria highway, confirmed Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ismail Hossain.
Mozahar Sheikh, son of the late Taher Sheikh of Nazirpur in Pirojpur district, had come to Rajapur to work as a laborer on agricultural land.
According to police and eyewitnesses, while crossing the road, he was fatally struck by a Dhaka-bound bus of Islam Paribahan, dying instantly at the scene. Following the incident, the driver and his assistant fled.
Police have seized the bus, and legal proceedings are underway, OC Hossain added.
